Aims Of the Career Search Project

  • To understand the aims, essential components and underpinning values of the Career Search program.
  • To recognise the value of this type of project in relation to curriculum delivery as well as the effective use of Career Search as a tool to foster links with the local school community.
  • To gain a clear understanding of the role of the teacher in the young person led projects of Career Search.
  • To provide strategies and ideas to assist in the development of the project within the school and strategies to enable students to succeed.

Region held an information session for interested schools on the 21st March. Within the power point are some digital resources that may be of interest to you in your delivery of the career search initiative.

THE TLC SKILLS DEVELOPED BY YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH THIS PROJECT
1. Teamwork; This skill is developed through students learning to work together, help each other, identify each others strengths and develop those strengths and learning how to deal with stress.
2. Leadership: This skills develops a students capacity to be involved in problem solving strategies, self mangement and management of peers, being responsible and being able to negotiate.
3. Communication: This skill develops in students the ability to portray their message, listen to others, gather information and instruct others as well as learning to listen to instructions.This skill also allows for the development of competence in a range of media.

* NEW* Ace Day Jobs An internet webpage that allows students to search for different jobs and find out factual information and watch a video. The search capacity is NOT unlimited so have a look for yourself before you send students there.
Money Stuff This resource is a website for students to answer questions, complete activities etc regarding money management and other consumer issues.
